Broadus New Resident Hall Assistant At CMU

2017 Jan 30

On Central Methodist University's Fayette campus, student safety and support are top priorities. To help provide that security within the campus residence halls, resident hall assistants (RAs) are put on the job.

Josh Broadus, a sophomore Criminal Justice major from Columbia, Mo., has been named one of six new resident hall assistants, who are joining 16 others already in the position on campus. Broadus has been assigned to Burford Hall.

Under the direction of a resident director (RD), RAs facilitate safety and personal growth for on-campus students, which can involve providing emotional, social and physical support. This includes anything from unlocking doors to conversations about home sickness, according to Associate Dean of Students Bradley J. Dixon.

"Resident hall assistants play a vital role in helping students get acclimated to college life," Dixon said. "I believe we have filled our open positions with six very capable and energetic students who will make the residence life that much better."
