Day Tunes Up As Conservatory Singer

2017 Sep 11

Central Methodist University student Emily Day, from Wellsville, Mo., is busy rehearsing for semester performances as a Conservatory Singer.

As an anchor of CMU's music program, the Conservatory Singers put on two concerts during the semester and sing occasionally in churches.

The group is directed by Dr. Laura Wiebe, CMU assistant professor of music, and performs a wide variety of music, from sacred and spiritual to contemporary and classic. They also reflect a myriad number of majors, not just music or music education.

Already on the Conservatory Singers' schedule this semester are two home concerts, one on Sunday, Oct. 29, and one on Sunday, Dec. 3, both at 4 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU Fayette campus. The group will also be singing for the Linn Memorial Sunday morning service on Sunday, Oct. 1, as part of CMU's Family Weekend.

There are 45 students involved in Conservatory Singers. As always, their concerts are open to the public at no cost.

Day is a senior currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education degree at CMU.
