Dempsey Inducted Into Alpha Lambda Delta

2017 May 4

Central Methodist University student Katherine Dempsey, from Columbia, Mo., recently became part of the notable honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), which has more than 235 chapters in the United States.

Students were welcomed into the society during an induction ceremony on Thursday, April 27, on CMU's main campus in Fayette.

To become a member at CMU, students must be in the top 10 percent of their freshman class by grade point average, according to advisor Dr. Richard Bradley, professor of history.

"It is something to these students," said ALD President Marlow Case, a sophomore mathematics major from O'Fallon. "They can put it on their resume to distinguish themselves from other students, and they also have access to scholarships only offered through the society."

According to Case, being a member encourages students to maintain academic excellence throughout their college career, and provides them the opportunity to develop friendships with other students who have serious academic interests.

Dempsey is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree at CMU.
