Emmerich To ENACTUS Nationals

2017 Mar 31

Central Methodist University student Brooke Emmerich, from Prairie Home, Mo. - a sophomore currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree - is heading to the ENACTUS national competition coming up in May in Kansas City.

She will be joining 10 other members of CMU's ENACTUS team. After winning their league at the Midwest Regional ENACTUS competition held recently in Chicago, they qualified for nationals. Worcester (Mass.) State University and Taylor (Ind.) University also advanced from the Midwest region to the national event.

ENACTUS is an international, business-oriented organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who aim to use entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Professor Julie Bennett sponsors the CMU ENACTUS club.

At the regional event, students were judged based on the projects they have worked on this academic year, an annual report, and a presentation by a five-member team of students. A technology glitch meant the students had to present to the judges without the help of their Powerpoint program.

"We were highly complimented on what an excellent job our students did, and their ability to adapt to the challenge," Bennett said.

The national event from May 21-23 will take place at the Convention Center in Kansas City.
