Erikson Advances To Regionals In Club Basketball

Central Methodist University student Makenzie Erikson, from Independence, Mo., recently celebrated winning the 2017 Missouri Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (MOIRSA) championship as part of CMU's Club Basketball women's team.

Club sports - think an intercollegiate version of intramural sports - is on the rise, and the CMU women's team has risen to the top in their home state. After defending their state title at a tournament in Springfield the weekend of Feb. 17-18, they advance to the regional competition held March 3-5 in Lincoln, Neb.

"I have never been so proud of such a talented and humble group of young women," said Club Coach William M. Rambo III, assistant coordinator of student activities. "These young ladies truly represent CMU's core values."

Erikson is a junior currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education and Middle School Math degree at CMU.
