Hanvey Receives Two Awards at CMU Convocation

Katelyn Hanvey, a sophomore Music Education major from Centralia, received both the Demaree Prize, which honors the freshman with the highest scholastic average; and the Omicron Delta Kappa Outstanding Freshman Leadership Award, based on her overall campus leadership abilities, at the annual Opening Convocation at Central Methodist University.

CMU President Dr. Roger Drake presided over the ceremony this past Thursday (Aug. 21) in the newly-refurbished Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus. Music provided by CMU's Concert Band and greetings from student, faculty and administrative leadership were among the highlights. President Drake also presented five awards to four students, based on their achievements as new CMU students during 2013-14.
