Johnson is Part of CMU Little Theatre One-Acts

2015 Dec 7

Parker Johnson is the director of one of four one-act plays that will be performed in the Little Theatre on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Johnson is the director of "The Lottery," adapted from Shirley Jackson's short story by Brainerd Duffield.

"The Lottery" is set in a small provincial town whose residents are having the town fair as they do every year. People are nervous and excited about the inevitable conclusion of the fair because it always ends with the same event, one designed to ensure a good harvest. As lottery tickets are handed out and people are eliminated, the audience begins to sense that the end result might not be as desirable as they had hoped.

Students majoring in Central Methodist University's theatre program direct a one-act play as part of their degree requirements. Performances will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 8:30 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Johnson is a computer science major from Richmond.
