Steitz Wins At Criminal Justice Competition

Central Methodist University student Kiven Steitz, from McKinney, Texas, recently participated in the regional competition for the Lambda Alpha Epsilon Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association.

The regional district competition comprises the states of Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Missouri, Colorado, and Wyoming. It was hosted by Peru State College from Nebraska and held in Lincoln, Neb.

Fully, 130 people attended and competed in the regional trials. Some of the tasks are pencil and paper tests, while the rest are physical challenges.

CMU's group of nine members and sponsor Keith Abernathy, CMU assistant professor of criminal justice, took home five trophies and additional placings in the competition.

Steitz individually won eighth place in policing (upper division). . He is a senior at CMU, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree.
