2016 Jul 29

Central Methodist University head coach Nate Breland announced Thursday that CMU alum and former outfielder Chance Sugg from Paragould, Arkansas, will join the Eagles coaching staff for the 2016-17 baseball season as a graduate assistant coach.

"Chance Sugg has a bright future in coaching," said CMU head baseball coach Nate Breland. "He will be a strong addition to our coaching staff."

Sugg began his collegiate career at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. Sugg spent two seasons as an outfielder at Connors State, and hit .367. Following the 2014 season, he joined the Central Methodist University baseball program. While at CMU, Sugg batted a career .307; joining the 100 hit club and earning Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference honors as an outfielder. During his senior season, he helped the Eagles gain a Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, along with a trip to the NAIA Opening Round. Sugg completed his Bachelor's Degree in Business at Central Methodist University.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to start my coaching career at Central Methodist University," said Chance Sugg. "Coaching baseball has been a dream of mine since I started playing the game, and I am grateful to begin at my alma mater. I am looking forward to carrying on the traditions that we started last year."

The Eagle baseball program is coming off of a 44-17 record in 2016 season and a Heart of America Tournament Championship.
