Tashawanya Edwards from Midwest City Signs To Play At CMU

Central Methodist University head women's basketball coach Mike Davis announced Tuesday the signing of eight players who will join the program in time for the 2016-17 season.

Coming off a 26-5 campaign, which included: winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season championship, a trip to the NAIA Division 1 National Tournament, and finishing 19th in the National Rankings. Coach Davis is pleased to announce the addition of eight recruits. High School senior Sophie Thompson, and transfers Ana Borges, CeCe Cockerham, Tashawnya Edwards, Jerica Nelson, Jazmin Shields, Eloise Snedden, and Jenka Stiasna.

"We are truly excited to have this group join our program," said CMU head women's basketball coach Mike Davis. "We are very fortunate to have a great returning nucleus. Our entire coaching staff has worked extremely hard to enhance our team. Our fans will enjoy the athleticism and desire to win that this group will bring. It should be a great year for Eagle Basketball."

Tashawanya Edwards from Midwest City, Oklahoma arrives in Fayette, in time for the 2016-17 season.

The new recruits, join eight returning Lady Eagles, led by 1st Team All-American selection and Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year; DaJonee Hale. Returning starters include: Heart of America Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, Lexie Moe; and All-Conference selection, Alayah Cooper-Johnson. Also returning for the upcoming season include: Paige Albrecht, Allison Hines, Emily Richardson, Mataya Racek, and Mary Rose Gonzalez.
