Van Horn Participating In CMU Little Theatre's Awesome Allie

2017 Oct 23

Central Methodist University student Natalie Van Horn, from Raymore, Mo., will be participating in CMU's presentation of Awesome Allie scheduled for Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 8-10, and Sunday, Nov. 12. The production is CMU's Little Theatre's annual children's play.

Van Horn is a sophomore currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology at CMU.

The Wednesday through Friday performances are exclusively for school children who will be bussed in to the theatre; however, the Sunday performance, which begins at 1:30 p.m., is open to all.

Dr. Mark Kelty, professor of theatre, has turned the directing reins of Awesome Allie over to noted dancer, actor, director, and choreographer Carol Estey, currently of Columbia.

Estey had a long career on Broadway as an actor, dancer, and choreographer that included eight Broadway shows, among them The Act, starring Liza Minelli, and the original Broadway production of Jesus Christ, Superstar.

Awesome Allie is a tale of a young girl who has been given the mission of crossing the solar system in order to save Earth, and maybe learn some things about science on the way.

The cost for the Sunday matinee is $8 for adults, $5 for CMU faculty and staff, and free for CMU students with identification. For more information, contact Dr. Mark Kelty at mkelty@centralmethodist.edu or 660-248-6284.
