2017 May 2

Central Methodist University student Natalie Van Horn, from Raymore, Mo., recently won third place in the photography, art, and drawing category for Losing My Marbles, which has been published in CMU's Magazine of the Arts, Inscape.

The magazine's 42nd edition was officially revealed during a release party on Tuesday, April 25, which invited contributing writers and artists, as well as their family and friends.

Awards were granted for the magazine's cover, and for first, second, and third place winners in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, ten-minute plays, and the categories of photography, art, and drawings. In addition to a certificate, first plan recipients also were rewarded with a cash prize.

"We made some stylistic changes this year to really incorporate CMU into the magazine, and make it classy and professional," said Inscape Editor Danielle Franklin. "There is such a broad spectrum of perspectives that show all of the creative elements that are found within our students, faculty, staff, and community."

Van Horn is a sophomore currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology degree at CMU.
