Wiesehan to Perform in CMU University Band Concert

Brendan Wiesehan is a member of the University Band at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.

Wiesehan is a freshman music major from Villa Ridge.

The band will present a concert on Sunday, Feb. 21, which will include an eclectic mix of instrumental compositions including American and Japanese folk tunes, traditional and marching band music and Scottish rhapsodies.

This Swinney Conservatory performance begins at 4 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus in Fayette and admission is free.

Among the pieces to be performed are "Songs of Old Kentucky" by Brant Karrick; "A Hymn for Band" by Hugh Stuart; "The Liberty Bell" by John Philip Sousa, Arr. by Keith Brion and Loras Schissel; "Them Basses" by G.H. Huffine; "Fantasy on Sakura Sakura," setting by Ray Cramer; and "Hebrides Suite" by Clare Grundman.

Concert Conductors will be Skip Vandelicht, CMU associate professor of music and director of bands; and Larry Bennett and Steve Litwiller, both adjunct professors of music.

CMU's University Band is composed of all students in the Concert Band plus other students wishing to play in band. This band performs concerts on campus during the spring semester. Membership in the University Band is open to all students regardless of major.
