Wilken To Perform In CMU GEMS Recital

The annual Gems of Vocal Literature Recital will be presented by Central Methodist University's Swinney Conservatory of Music on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette campus.

Kay Wilken, from Cole Camp, Mo., is one of 16 CMU students who will be performing. She is a junior currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree.

Musical selections will be drawn from Italian opera, oratorio, and art song; German lieder and opera; French melodie, and English and contemporary songs. Three duets by Handel and Brahms will be offered with a final ensemble for all performers from Handel's Acis and Galatea.

Composers include Handel, Bononcini, Scarlatti, Brahms, Wagner, Donizetti, Faure, Polenc, Rossini, Barber, Vaughan Williams, Donaudy, and Roger Quilter.
