Advanced students from the Little Theatre at Central Methodist University will delve into the question "what is love?" during their annual short performances directed and acted exclusively by CMU students.

As people get jazzed for the holidays, Central Methodist University offers a concert by the CMU Jazz Band to boost the mood. The concert will be Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Fayette campus.

The annual children's play put on by the cast and crew of Central Methodist University's Little Theatre is slated for Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 8-10, and Sunday, Nov. 12. Dr. Mark Kelty, professor of theatre, has turned the directing reins of Awesome Allie over to noted dancer, actor, director, and choreographer Carol Estey, currently of Columbia.

The Little Theatre on Fayette's campus of Central Methodist University will present Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 4:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Tenor Daniel Terry, a vocal performance major from the Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University, will present his senior recital on Sunday, March 12.

The Central Methodist University Concert Band heads out on Thursday, March 16, for its annual week-long tour -- this year performing on the eastern side of the state of Missouri. Four CMU students will be performing as soloists.

Actor and comedian Bill Chott, a 1991 Central Methodist University graduate, is currently leading comedy improv workshops on the Fayette campus, which will culminate in four improvisational presentations. The shows will run Thursday, March 2 to Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. in The Little Theatre on the Fayette campus.

Central Methodist University vocalist Anthony Mintert, a tenor, will present his senior music recital on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall on CMU's campus in Fayette. He will be joined by several friends from CMU's Swinney Conservatory of Music.

A contemporary music recital is being presented by members of the Swinney Conservatory of Music of Central Methodist University on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall.

The award-winning play by Eve Ensler will be performed in CMU's Little Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 23 and Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

In Victorian England, one of the established mores was the separation of social classes. Writers and composers Gilbert and Sullivan chose that unwritten taboo to parody in their opera H.M.S. Pinafore, which will be presented from Thursday, Feb. 16 to Sunday, Feb. 19 at Central Methodist University.

Central Methodist University senior music education majors Katelyn Hanvey and Ryan Lewis will present a joint senior recital at the Kountz Recital Hall at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.

The Central Methodist University Little Theatre will present You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown - the perennially delightful play, based on the Peanuts characters developed by Charles Schultz.

The first choir concert this fall joins two prominent vocal groups on the Central Methodist University Fayette campus -- the Chorale and Conservatory Singers. Together, they will present a concert on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. in Linn Memorial Church on campus. Two CMU students are being recognized as soloists for the upcoming performance.

The annual Gems of Vocal Literature Recital will be presented by Central Methodist University's Swinney Conservatory of Music on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette campus.

Made up of 62 members, the Conservatory Singers is the largest of Central Methodist University's vocal groups. They will be performing several times during the fall semester.

Made up of 15 students, the Central Methodist University Jazz Band is already playing and having fun while they blow the blues and tickle the ivories, evoking images of New Orleans and St. Louis.
