The Worship Band at Central Methodist University has been growing steadily for a number of years and has become a musical group with strong student appeal on campus.

The first Central Methodist University theatre production to kick off the 2016-17 academic year is one that gives a sneak peek into early 1900's small-town living, and the stages of life that go hand-in-hand. 'Our Town' will be performed Oct. 6, 7, 8 and 9 in CMU's Little Theatre.

Members of The Chorale, the touring choir from Central Methodist University's Swinney Conservatory of Music, have been chosen and are already practicing for fall performances.

The Central Methodist University Jazz Band has a variety of styles lined up for its last concert of its 2015-16 season. It will perform on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in CMU's Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Fayette campus.

The cast and crew members for William Shakespeare's "As You Like It" has been announced. The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (April 28-30) and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (May 1) in CMU's Little Theatre in Fayette.

The CMU Theatre students participated in the American College Theatre Festival in Minneapolis on January 17-23.

Eleven CMU students will be participating in a Piano Ensemble Recital on Feb. 28. The performance will include works scored for one piano four hands, one piano six hands, and two piano eight hands. The recital will feature numerous composers, including Stravinsky, Poulenc, Arensky, Clementi, and Wilhelm Ganz.

Five Central Methodist University students received awards at a Kansas City area competition sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (KC NATS), held Feb. 6 on the campus of Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan.

The University Band will perform an eclectic mix of instrumental compositions including American and Japanese folk tunes, traditional and marching band music and Scottish rhapsodies. The concert will be held Sunday, Feb.21 at 4 p.m. in the Linn Memorial United Methodist Church.

The women of five area PEO chapters were entertained by the Church Street Boys from Central Methodist University during the annual Founder's Day Observance at Hillside Baptist Church in Fayette on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Students majoring in Central Methodist University's theatre program direct a one-act play as part of their degree requirements. This semester four one-act plays will be performed on each of two nights for the audience.

The family-friendly musical will show Saturday - Sunday, Nov. 14 - 15. The public showings will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Little Theatre.
