Phonathon Callers contact alumni, parents, and friends of Central Methodist University to raise money for the Central Annual Scholarship Fund. Callers solicit contributions, provide information about university accomplishments and activities, and update alumni information and/or contact information.

Homecoming at Central Methodist University was held on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Two members of the Central Methodist University 2013-14 radio staff have taken a first place in the Missouri Broadcaster's Association competition, according to Dr. Kristin Cherry, assistant professor of communications.

Samantha Copeland received the Tau Kappa Epsilon Outstanding Freshman Award at the annual Opening Convocation at Central Methodist University.

Thomas Waggoner received the Kim Everett Outstanding Freshman Male Award at the annual Opening Convocation ceremony at Central Methodist University.

Band Camp 2014 at Central Methodist University drew a record 90 campers from across Missouri and from Illinois, according to CMU Prof. Skip Vandelicht, camp director. The participating musicians, all of them entering either high school or junior high this coming academic year, spent four days (July 8-11) at the university learning from experts, playing and rehearsing, and listening to music by some of Missouri's finest ensembles, Vandelicht said.

Geofrey Bilabaye, a senior at Central Methodist University, has been selected to attend the 2014 Hesselbein Global Academy at the University of Pittsburgh, to be held July 26-29. Only 50 top students from around the world are chosen to participate each year. The students are accomplished campus leaders who have been involved in a range of campus and community programs and service-learning.

The only way Central Methodist University students could have fared better in the annual Missouri State Teachers Association Media Awards contest would be if there were more categories of competition. The MSTA Communication Awards committee recently announced results of its contest, and of the five competitions in the radio category, CMU swept them all. The competition recognizes outstanding coverage of education and education issues by Missouri media.
