Nearly 100 Central Methodist University students were included on the program at May commencement for being honored with academic awards. Each department on campus chose and submitted names of award winners and honorees for the 2021-22 academic year.

Seventeen Central Methodist University students were recognized during the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science Honor Awards held on CMU's Fayette campus. Excellence was noted in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics. Division awards also were presented.

Convocation honors several students and a professor who have shown outstanding work from the previous year. This year, five students were recognized.

Each academic year, Central Methodist University's Division of Health Professions recognizes students for excellence in their fields of study. For 2016-17, 37 nursing students received pins, and six nursing and athletic training students were honored with special awards.

Each spring, Central Methodist University's Division of Business, Accounting, and Economics recognizes students for extraordinary academic achievements. Awards were presented to 13 students during a Business Division Honors Banquet, which was held Monday, April 10.

Central Methodist University presented a total of ten special awards to eight Social Sciences Division students Saturday, May 14, on the CMU campus in Fayette.

Forty-one new nurses were pinned by Central Methodist University during ceremonies held Friday, May 13. A nursing pin traditionally is worn to identify the nursing school from which a nurse graduated, and are presented as a symbolic welcome into the profession.

Five nursing students and two athletic training students earned special recognition for their accomplishments at Central Methodist University during the 205-2016 academic year.

Kelly Jo Davis and Joseph Morris were honored on Saturday, May 14 for completing the rigorous honors program at Central Methodist University.

Regarded as the most prestigious award given to a CMU graduating senior is the Selecman Achievement Award. It was established in 1957 by the late United Methodist Church Bishop Charles C. Selecman, a former student at Central Methodist.

The CMU Human Relations Award was first given in 1953. It was established by Mrs. Martha Smith Luck to honor the student "showing the most promise in human relations and human adjustment."

CMU's Victoria Award is given annually to a graduating student who in the opinion of the faculty and students best exemplifies the ideals and purposes of Central Methodist University. The award is given in memory of Victoria Beecroft Cutter and established in 1979 by her late son Dr. Walter Cutter, Central Class of 1928.

The rich and varied cultural arts environment at Central Methodist University was evidenced May 8 during CMU's annual Fine Arts banquet and celebration recognizing 25 fine and performing arts students, several of whom had multiple awards.

The Central Methodist University Division of Business, Accounting and Economics recognized the extraordinary achievements of 19 students at an awards ceremony held Wednesday, May 4, on the CMU-Fayette campus.
