Eleven students in the social sciences division at Central Methodist University were presented with special awards in a ceremony held Saturday, May 10. The group was recognized at an awards event just prior to 2014 Commencement ceremonies, according to Dr. Brent Meyer, chair of social sciences at CMU.

Honors and awards have been presented by the Central Methodist University Division of Health Professions at the close of the 2013-14 academic year.

Talent can be recognized and honored by anyone who sees a musical or theatrical performance at Central Methodist University in Fayette. Applause, laughter, standing ovations are all ways to show appreciation for the talent and skills of CMU students. But once a year comes a chance for students to be recognized by their peers and by their faculty in music or theatre, and often both.

Sigma Epsilon Pi inducted 24 new members to celebrate exceptional scholarly achievement while at Central Methodist University. These members were inducted at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 29.

As the 2013-14 academic year at Central Methodist University draws to a close, the CMU Division of Science, Mathematics and Computer Science took time to celebrate at an awards banquet on Thursday, April 24.

The only way Central Methodist University students could have fared better in the annual Missouri State Teachers Association Media Awards contest would be if there were more categories of competition. The MSTA Communication Awards committee recently announced results of its contest, and of the five competitions in the radio category, CMU swept them all. The competition recognizes outstanding coverage of education and education issues by Missouri media.

The 39th edition of Inscape, Central Methodist University's magazine of the arts, has been released. The magazine features creative works such as poetry, fiction, non-fiction, plays, paintings, drawings, and photography from over 30 different students.

The Central Methodist University Division of Business, Accounting and Economics honored 16 students in a special banquet and awards ceremony on April 22 on the Fayette campus. These students have demonstrated outstanding work in the fields of accounting, finance, business management, international business, marketing and advertising, entrepreneurship, and leadership, according to Julie Bennett, chair of the Division of Business, Accounting and Economics and associate professor of business.

Central Methodist University vocal music students and the public will be treated to a special appearance by Dr. Raymond Feener, associate professor of voice at the University of Missouri at Kansas City on Monday April 28.

Central Methodist University's Swinney Conservatory of Music and The Little Theatre presented their highest student honors Friday, Sept. 23, in the annual Fine Arts Celebration on the Fayette campus. Honored were both current student leaders in music and theatrical arts, and recent graduates, based on the work they did in the 2010-11 school year.
